RCA unveils new line of DMR radios

With competition heating up in the DMR market, RCA removes the covers from its new PRODIGI™ line of value priced DMR radios, featuring a weatherproof design and an industry leading 4-year warranty.

On July 30th, RCA Communication Systems announced the launch of its new PRODIGI™ line of value priced DMR radios for the commercial market. This new line of radios includes two models, the RDR3500, a basic push-to-talk unit and the RDR3600, which incorporates a display screen and a full DTMF keypad. Both radios feature a weatherproof design, which meets the IP67 certification standards, allowing them to submerged up to 3 feet (1 meter) of water for up to 30 minutes, plus they include an industry leading 4-year warranty. Some additional noteworthy features include:

    • Available in both UHF (400 – 470 MHz) and VHF (136 – 174 MHz) models
    • Support for both 1,000 contacts and 1,000 channels (RDR3600 only)
    • Dual mode Digital and Analog FM operation (12.5 & 25 kHz)
    • Free programming software

The exclusive North American distributor for the RCA PRODIGI™ line of radios is Los Angeles based Discount Two-Way Radio Corp., which is offering the RDR3500 on its website for $259USD and the RDR3600 for $299USD.

(UPDATE AUG. 11: After calling Discount Two-Way Radio Corp., they have confirmed that while the initial programming is free, the programming software and cable are not included with the radio and cannot be purchased).
